Press Release 20 November 2002

New ‘Click & Run’ technology allows Australian small businesses to Breeze through their bookkeeping!

“Finally – a bookkeeping software package we can use!” says small business.

SYDNEY – 20th November 2002 – A new software package with a revolutionary user interface specifically designed to meet the bookkeeping needs of SOHO (small office/home office) businesses has been launched by Martex Software Solutions.

Called BusinessBreeze™, the software is aimed primarily at micro & small businesses that typically have less than 10 people on the payroll – but can ‘scale up’ to 300 people for small businesses that use many contractors or part-time and casual staff.

‘Click & run’ Delivers Measurable Ease of Use

As the name implies, the major benefit of BusinessBreeze™ for small business users is ease of use. This is due to the unique ‘click & run’ user interface that greatly simplifies many of the regular tasks of bookkeeping and basic accounting. With ‘click & run’, users can run all the critical functions with just a few clicks of their mouse.

In contrast to conventional bookkeeping and accounting packages designed for SMEs, BusinessBreeze™ requires no additional training or bookkeeping expertise – users can be up and running with the package immediately after installation. There is no confusing accounting jargon, just simple point and click menus that require no book keeping knowledge.

Managing Director of Martex, Charles Alexiou, says the genuinely simple ‘click & run’ system is the essential differentiator between BusinessBreeze™ and other ‘install and crawl’ accounting software.

“Other products require users to attend courses or to bring in bookkeepers who can use the software,” adds Mr Alexiou. “This adds substantial costs that when combined with the new tax and compliance obligations can make or break a micro business. They don’t want to spend what to them are large sums of money for software that they ‘install and crawl’ along at a snail’s pace trying to use.”

“Because BusinessBreeze™ was developed by an Australian small business for local small businesses, the developers understand the challenges and compliance issues facing small businesses,” says Mr Alexiou.

Small business operators take control…

“According to Australian Taxation Office statistics, there are about 3.5 million registered businesses in Australia – but only 750,000 of them have some form of book keeping or accounting software. The rest still rely on manual methods, bringing in a part-time bookkeeper or the family accountant.”

“BusinessBreeze’sTM unique ‘click & run’ processes are so simple to operate that all the peripheral costs have been eliminated. If you’re a small business with, say three people on the payroll, you will never have to call in anyone to do your book keeping again. Your accountant will love you for it, because it relieves the four-fold increase in workload created for them by quarterly BAS reporting.”

Feature-rich

BusinessBreeze™ features a whole suite of business accounting functions from cashbook and tax compliant invoicing, to payroll, profit and loss, balance sheets, employee records and archiving. The ‘click & run’ interface, with its unique click system, makes major tasks simple:

  • 4 click BAS, due to automatic GST calculations for BAS statements
  • 5 click Profit and Loss Statements
  • 5 click Balance Sheets
  • 6 click Group Certificates for individual employees (5 click employee summary).

BusinessBreeze™ also enables users to email essential data to their accountants and even has a facility for creating business cards.

The software has been designed to run on both Windows and Macintosh platforms and requires minimal computer resources, enabling it to run on even older, less powerful computers such as 486 PCs.

Retail distribution

BusinessBreeze™ will be available at retail outlets in November 2002 and priced at about $330 following the signing of a distribution agreement with Pacific Blue Computers Pty Ltd, Sydney on September 4th 2002.

“We are excited about bringing this great Australian product to market”, says Gordon Hansford, Managing Director of Pacific Blue Computers. “The market is ready for this. We have access to a great channel support programme and it’s an offer where everyone benefits. We’re actively expanding our reseller’s network.”
